DDay Re-enactment, Conneaut 2013

Disclaimer:  There are an abnormal amount of photos in this post.

This past weekend, we had a family weekend up in Conneaut for the annual DDay Re-enactment Experience.  My cousins have a cottage on Lake Erie, so we were able to visit with them, as well as get the whole story on the experience.  If you ever get a chance, go.  This day was unforgettable.

Next year, I'm definitely dressing up.

They actually stayed...OVERNIGHT...in those tents.

It was the first table they had EVER seen.

And it's over.
Can you even imagine?  War.  What a concept.  Of course, wars since have been fought dirtier and meaner than DDay, but even still, all of this, really puts it into perspective.  The time and money all of these volunteers put into this experience is really amazing.  I think it is officially a Rode/Garcia/Ruth tradition now, and I am so excited about it!  Next year is the 70th anniversary of D-Day, so we'll definitely be headed back.

And just because I can, here are some INCREDIBLY close-up photos of Adam and me (mom's favorite button on the camera is the ZOOM):

And a little further away, to really get the chair-backpacks.

And then some with my cousin, Mia.  You know how you can tell we are cousins?  We both wore sleeveless, chambray tops to the DDAY RE-ENACTMENT!

Don't forget to Thank (hug) a Veteran!
