The Anne-jaaaay (Angers) Effect

Blazer: Gabriel Brothers, Dress: Random Shop in Angers, Black Booties: Black Poppy (c/o PacSun), Jewelry: Assorted

It's been a while since I shared an outfit post, so here you go.

I honestly can't remember when I took these photos (maybe May?).

I don't wear this blue dress often because I'm never really sure what to do with it - it's pseudo see-through and has this "cape-type" thing that buttons on to the buttons on the front - sounds weird, but it's kind of cool.  Anyway, I bought it at this random shop on the way to the English Language Library one day in France.  I think it cost about 5 euros.  Which led me to think about some of the other purchases I made in that sleepy, little French town - almost all of which cost 5 euros (each, not total, that would be sweet):  a pair of black booties, this dress, some other random things.

What a great time.

Random Story, bro.

Peace.

Public Transit

Beanie: Left at mine after a party (I washed it), Patchwork Button-Down: My Dad's,
Grey Button-down: Silence&Noise (c/o Gabe's), Sweater: Forever21, Jeans: H&M, Converse: PacSun, Jewelry: DIY

Wow. It's been too long.  Do you know when I took these photos?  Yeah, me either.  I do remember that this was the day I took the bus to and from work because my car was at the dealership.  This was from a time in my life when I was hoping I could get rid of my car and take the bus indefinitely.  Well, life has other plans for me (but seriously, if anyone is in the market for a 2006 VW Convertible Beetle, you know where to find it/me).

Anyway, in case anyone out there was wondering, the bus system in Akron is pretty sweet.  The driver of the bus I caught in the morning called me "Sweetie" and was super helpful when I handed him a giant pile of quarters - learned that lesson in NYC - no bills on the bus!  The one on the way back was not as nice.  I ended up getting off too early and had to walk a bit, but thankfully (and weirdly enough) it was a nice day out - cuz we all know that never happens in Ohio - the nice day bit. Sadly, I haven't taken the bus since, but still will randomly route things on GoogleMaps using the public transport feature to reminisce a bit.

So that was my story about the Akron bus system.  If you're bored one day, and need something to do - ride the bus!

Also, I guess because this is a "style" blog, and I'm a "fashion blogger", I should at least mention something "fashion/style" bloggy here, right?  So in case, none of you have read Man Repeller yet, I suggest you stop everything and read Leandra and friend's blog ASAP.  Why did I just randomly mention Man Repeller, because Leandra has a way with clothes, and I'd be lying if I said I thought of the "tie the shoelaces around the ankles thing" on my own.  So thank you Leandra for the idea.  Because of you, I haven't stopped tying my laces around my ankles.  I almost feel less casual (more fancy?) when I wear them like that (as will be demonstrated in my next blog post - for whenever I get around to posting it).

Peace.

#FlashbackFriday

#FLASHBACK to the beginning of the month when Adam got his hair(s)cut (again) and my friend Blake was in town/I learned that another girl from my high school in Jupiter lives in Cleveland now!

This photo perfectly captures the frustrations of blogging in the cold

Look to the left.....

Now look to the right....

Sweater: Charlotte Russe, Top: Akira (C/o Jesse at the most recent swap), Pants: Dickies
(c/o Gabriel Brothers), Booties: Forever 21, Glasses and Jewelry: Assorted

Now CHEESE!

Adam has been going through a bit of a transformation as of late: cutting his hair, getting contacts, and now getting new glasses from Warby Parker.  No one recognizes him anymore!  The transformation continued at the beginning of the month when he randomly decided he wanted another haircut.  So we went to Best Cuts, showed the lady what he wanted, and TA-DAH!  A new dude!

Jacket: UO Surplus, Khaki Button-Down: Levi's Outlet, Jeans: Bullhead (c/o PacSun), Boots: Forever21,
Sunglasses: Charlotte Russe

Of course after he got his haircut, I made us take photos in the back of the plaza.  And then we met up with some friends at the Highland Tavern to play Cards Against Humanity.

Brotherly Love.

That game is ridiculous, and we clearly had way too much fun playing.  Next time though, we probably shouldn't play in a public place.

Claire Matthews

This post contains spoiler alerts from the first season of The Following:

Another day, another NOT personal style post.  As everyone (everywhere) is aware, currently, winter is beating the heck out of ALL OF US all over America (and I caught a cold in Columbus).  So I'd like to take the time to write a (long overdue) post about one of my favorite characters on TV (Netflix) now:  Claire Matthews (played by the effortlessly beautiful Natalie Zea) of The Following.

The Following aired in January of 2013 and recently returned for a second season.  Adam and I caught the first episode, as a re-run, while pigging out on pizza in our hotel room after a long day of rocking out in the Philly heat, last June when we were in Philadelphia for the Roots Picnic.  Generally, it scared the shit out of me, and I decided the first episode I saw would be the last.  But recently, it was added to Netflix, and I decided to squash my fears and watch it.  A season later, and addicted, I can safely say The Following is one of the best shows I've seen in recent history.  I was pleasantly surprised when I heard they would be returning with a second season this year.

Not so secure was the fate of Claire Matthews.  I'm no Doctor, but being stabbed doesn't usually have the best prognosis (the same could be said for Kevin Bacon's character - or really ANYONE from this show).

In reading spoilers for the second season, I read that Claire would be returning for this season.  I was beyond happy to tune in for more of Claire's killer (get it?) style.  However, now that I'm caught up (catching episodes through hulu a week behind), I'm starting to doubt she'll ever be back (the four seconds she was included in the first episode as a bit of a recap CAN'T count as her return, can it?)

Either way, in the hopes that she'll return this season (maybe in tonight's episode - sshh don't tell me!), let's take a look back at some of her signature looks from last season.  There's nothing really out of this world about the way she dresses (is dressed for the show), but there's something effortlessly cool and beautiful about the way she pulls it all off.  And when she does get the chance to dress up (helloooo LBD from the episode "Whips and Regret" - below)?  She knocks it out of the park.

Casual Cool for a lunch date and game of ditch the FBI tail.

Same outfit from above

Comfy Cool at home during the search for her son

Flashback - Hot date with K Bacon

Siren Style for dinner with Cult leader ex-husband, Joe - "He picked out the outfit".

That hair!

Grand Reveal

And as always, we can't forget about the boys!  Joe's grandpa/literature nerd/cult leader style is on point, while Kevin Bacon is rarely seen out of a suit.

My advice for being snowed in:  put on your most comfortably stylish PJs and hunker down for a binge-marathon of The Following with special attention paid to Claire's character and style - but be sure to stop about an hour before bedtime and catch AN episode (or all of them) of Moone Boy (on Hulu) so you don't have nightmares!
