Maplewood Boutique Fashion Show 2019

This past weekend, a local mobile boutique, Maplewood Boutique, hosted a fashion show. Now that I have a child, I have to plan things years in advance, so the minute I found out about the show I grabbed a ticket. Fashion shows in Akron are pretty rare, although, this month, there are TWO (Noto will be hosting their's in a few weeks). In any event, the Maplewood Boutique Fashion Show was a great excuse to connect with friends and other local fashion lovers and do some shopping (not to mention, indulge in a virgin Bloody Mary). I haven't been able to shop their stuff since their Grand Opening event last year, when I scored the floral, yellow wrap dress you see so often in my Instagram stories, so I was able to grab some great new pieces that I likely would have missed out on because I struggle with getting out of the house on the weekends (sans child).

I brought my real camera to possibly take photos during the event, but chickened out, so here are some shots I snapped with my phone (because that's more socially acceptable :/)

And in case you were wondering, here is what I wore!

Denim Jacket: Thrifted, Turtleneck: JCrew, Dress: Urban Outfitters, Bag/Boots: Zara

I went v. casual with this lewk, because A) the show was on a Sunday and B) it was an early afternoon/brunch fashion show, which just might be my new favorite type of fashion show, btw. Unfortunately, it was not warm enough to wear my yellow dress from MB, but I think it's OK. I never really know what the "rules" are for fashion show dressing, and tend to ignore them anyway, because....this is Akron.

Bourbon Trail: OOTD 2

Finishing up my Bourbon Trail Travel Diary with my second #ootd from the road.

I found this gem of a denim jumpsuit at one of the summer Cleveland Fleas. I passed by it once, and then circled back to check it out more. I guess I was pretty obvious, since the woman who ran the booth told me she saw me checkin' it out. I managed to try it on over this outfit, and obviously fell in love. After a bit of bartering, it was mine! I may take some time to alter it, but for now, I'm enjoying wearing it as is.

Jumpsuit: Vintage, Tshirt: Target, Flats: Charlotte Russe, Backpack: PacSun,
Sunglasses: ShopJeen, Jewelry: Assorted

We took these photos in an alley in NuLu before checking out a sidewalk sale at Please and Thank You coffee shop. The sidewalk sale was OK, but the coffee was delicious.

Bourbon Trail: OOTD 1

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with your friends and family! I spent the day celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday, as well as eating multiple rounds of delicious food.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, something I'm thankful for is an amazing, spontaneous husband, who decided that a last minute visit to the Bourbon Trail was a good idea. I'm also thankful that Adam takes blog photos for me, because without him, I'm not sure there would be much content to share with you all.

Here's my travel #ootd from our first day on the trail:

Hat: Noto, Sunglasses: Shop Jeen, Turtleneck: JCrew Factory, Blazer: Thrifted,
Jeans: Swapped, Flats: Target

I think this over-sized blazer is going to be the MVP of my wardrobe this winter. It's large enough to wear over sweaters, but small enough to layer under winter coats. Win. Win.

Stay tuned for my second (and final) #ootd from the road next week!

Return to Bourbon Mountain

A few weeks ago, Adam and I headed back to the land of bourbon. We visited distilleries on the regular Bourbon Trail and some on the Craft Bourbon Trail.  All delicious, all beautiful. I highly recommend a trip.

Check out where we went on this trip!

We also visited the Jim Beam Urban Distillery in Downtown Louisville. Super fun.

For more bourbon trail fun, check out my post from our mini-moon there in 2014! I'll also be sharing #ootd photos from the road over the next few days. Stay tuned!
