Maplewood Boutique Fashion Show 2019

This past weekend, a local mobile boutique, Maplewood Boutique, hosted a fashion show. Now that I have a child, I have to plan things years in advance, so the minute I found out about the show I grabbed a ticket. Fashion shows in Akron are pretty rare, although, this month, there are TWO (Noto will be hosting their's in a few weeks). In any event, the Maplewood Boutique Fashion Show was a great excuse to connect with friends and other local fashion lovers and do some shopping (not to mention, indulge in a virgin Bloody Mary). I haven't been able to shop their stuff since their Grand Opening event last year, when I scored the floral, yellow wrap dress you see so often in my Instagram stories, so I was able to grab some great new pieces that I likely would have missed out on because I struggle with getting out of the house on the weekends (sans child).

I brought my real camera to possibly take photos during the event, but chickened out, so here are some shots I snapped with my phone (because that's more socially acceptable :/)

And in case you were wondering, here is what I wore!

Denim Jacket: Thrifted, Turtleneck: JCrew, Dress: Urban Outfitters, Bag/Boots: Zara

I went v. casual with this lewk, because A) the show was on a Sunday and B) it was an early afternoon/brunch fashion show, which just might be my new favorite type of fashion show, btw. Unfortunately, it was not warm enough to wear my yellow dress from MB, but I think it's OK. I never really know what the "rules" are for fashion show dressing, and tend to ignore them anyway, because....this is Akron.

Legacy Village

Warning: Temporary blindness may occur from the paleness of my legs.

Here are some photos of when my baby bump was barely noticeable, and we got a little silly taking "senior photos".

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, navy is a neutral. Pair it with an unexpected color combo like turquoise and magenta, and you're all set (There are definitely other color combos to pair it with. I'm speaking specifically about this color combination).

Super Sunday

How often do you all get writer's block? Or are hit with a bit of un-inspiration? That happened last week. I went to write about this outfit and felt entirely uninspired. So then I tried to think about why I wore this outfit, and I came up with a bit. So here you go!

I wore this outfit on Super Bowl Sunday. The Patriots were playing the Falcons and since I'm not an NFL fan, I wasn't really sure what to wear. I don't like the Patriots, so I opted to incorporate some red into my #ootd in "support" of the Falcons. Per usual, the game was totally uneventful until we left the party to go home. Oh well. We only watch the game because it's another excuse to get together with family and hang out. We did catch Lady Gaga's performance, and of course, it was amazing.

Buttond-Down: Adam's, Top: Thrifted, Jeans: Levi's 501, Hat: H&M, Flats: Zara,
Socks: Gabriel Brothers

Loose jeans, loose button-down and mock-neck top make for an easy Sunday formula.

Julia

Have you ever met a piece of clothing that you thought you'd love, then tried it on, and it wasn't your favorite? Did you then try that piece of clothing on again and realize you had been too hard on it the first time? That's this dress.

Jean Jacket: Vintage, Thrifted, Dress: LuLaRoe Julie, Boots, Pyramid Necklace: Charlotte Russe,
#adublovefest Necklace: Gifted

When my cousin first started selling LuLaRoe, she had this Julia dress on her dress form. I instantly fell in love with it because of the pattern (arrows, duh). But then I tried it on and thought it was too tight. Now that I'm pregnant, I thought I'd give it another try, and I didn't care about the tightness. I'm not sure if it's something about accepting your body for what it is, or being fine with showing off your curves, but I hope I take this mentality with me after our baby is born. I should love my body in all of its iterations, not just when it is growing a small human.

Black and Blue

Black and blue seems to be a combo I've been embracing as of late. I think recently my stance on it shifted. Before I used to avoid it (like wearing black and brown together) because it was some weird rule that I followed (or I didn't want to look like a human-sized bruise), but now I find myself pairing these colors together. Probably because I can't tell if some of my navy pieces are navy or black, so it's just easiest to pair them together (;
