Valentine's Day

It feels like we took these photos a lifetime ago, but really, it was only a few weeks. Adam and I took Valentine's Day off from work. I can't remember why now; probably because the boys's school was closed the following Monday, and maybe we thought we would get away for a longer weekend as a family. Spoiler alert: we didn't get away. We stayed home and cleaned. Must have been a foreshadow to how we have and are going to continue to spend the next few weeks. The current situation/climate only seems the tiniest bit dire, but that's probably because we recently watched "Resident Evil" (terrible idea).

Quality family time: not cancelled. Creating Content: not cancelled. We're all in this together.

Jacket: Thrifted, Top: Northside Cellar, Jeans: Zara,
Boots: DR Marten 1460 Stud, Sunglasses: H&M

Notes on this outfit: not a ton, actually. I had a whole pink and red scheme #ootd planned for the day, but got a late start getting ready so ended up with this. I am in love with this top, but it's not exactly the most practical item of clothing I own. So I paired it with some jeans I got recently from Zara, and some new Docs to "normalize" it. Re: buying too many Docs, yes, that's me. Once I settled on the first pair (my vegan Jadon IIs), it was easy to get another pair. I was browsing the SALE page, and found the 1460 STUD. They are a classic Doc, but with a twist. And since they were on sale, it was easier for me to justify the purchase. Weirdly, I'm still the most in love with my Jadons, but these are pretty sweet, too. Did it only take me two pairs of Docs to hit the point of diminishing return (of joy)? Maybe.

Overall, I'm obsessed with the juxtaposition of tough, girly and casual with this outfit.

What are some ways you are taking advantage of the extra time at home?

Wide-Leg Overalls

Man oh man do I love these overalls. I bought them last year during Urban Outfitters's end of year sale, and I have to say I wasn't 100% sold on them, but chalked that up to being newly pregnant and not sure what my body was doing. A month later, and my baby bump was coming along nicely, and I was living in these overalls. Oh yeah, I'm pregnant again (!!!!!), but more on that later. And now I can no longer wear these overalls because my baby bump is too large for these overalls. Oh well.

As you might have noticed, I've been holding out on sharing I'm pregnant on social media. Mostly because it's still such a weird, foreign concept for me (social media over-sharing, not pregnancy), but also because it's already weird enough to talk about pregnancy in person, so sharing it online makes it seem even weirder. But that's probably just me. I'm very glad to be growing our little family, so should just suck it up and shout it from the rooftops. But it's also kind of tough for me to share this news with strangers when my only child isn't old enough to fully understand what's about to happen to him. But to be honest, do Adam and I even know what's about to happen to us. Two under two (depending on when Baby Chaos arrives)? It'll be fun!

Party Pants

Guess how many sets of outfit photos I've taken this winter? Three. Well three sets of outfit photos between Black Friday and last month. Not sure if that is technically winter, but who cares.

In any case, here are some photos of the outfit I wore to my SIL's baby shower back in February. After the shower, Adam and I went out to dinner together.

Blazer: Pendleton (Thrifted); Turtleneck, Earrings: JCrew, Jeans: Thrifted/DIY,
Boots: Zara, Belt: Urban Outfitters

In all honesty, I've tried posting several different blog posts over the course of the winter, but can't hit "publish". I'd have to say blogging is NOT like riding a bike. I haven't seriously thought about posting since November, and it is obvious. Don't get me wrong, I've thought about the stuff I could post, or had fleeting thoughts to take outfit photos, but other than that, blogging hasn't broken into the top of my list of priorities. I sure do miss it, but I'm not sure what I miss about it. It's not styling, because I do that on the daily and share those outfits with you all via Instagram stories. Maybe it's taking the time to reflect on something that isn't work-related? Something as frivolous as an outfit? When I figure it out, you'll all be the first to know. In the meantime, feel free to keep an eye out for super sporadic posts, or check out the work I'm doing this year with Goodwill Akron here. Xoxo, Abby

Oh, Canada

When Plan A fails, there's always Plan B: vintage Canadian army gear.

Canada Jacket: Black Market Vintage Toronto, Button-Down: Levi's, Jeans: Old Navy,
Boots: DSW, Belt: Borrowed from Adam

But seriously, a few weeks ago, I wanted to wear my suede, fringe jacket, but my pants weren't high enough to meet the bottom of my jacket, so I switched to Plan B, this vintage Canadian army jacket. I'd like to say I was inspired by this article, but really, I needed something with black on it to match the rest of my all black ensemble. Plus, gold details didn't hurt. I was talking with some co-workers when I got to work, and one of them was baffled by my Canadian jacket. I tried to explain the story I just shared with all of you, but couldn't stop laughing. She's kind of right. This jacket is incredibly random, but oh so special. Really makes me want to go back to Toronto for more vintage treasure hunts.

Racing Stripes

Hello friends! Coming at you live from snowy Minneapolis, MN (not the below photos, just my physical current location)!

Today I'm sharing an #ootd I wore a few weeks ago featuring some new trousers I snagged from a recent Zara haul (I might have a problem - there's currently another order waiting for me at home - to be fair, most of what I order gets returned). I love these pants because they feature green and mustard stripes on the side. Luckily, I have a green blazer that matches perfectly, but I feel like now is the time to invest in more mustard pieces (I've had this argument here before).

Blazer, Button-Down: Hand-Me-Down, Trousers: Zara, Flats: Charlotte Russe, Necklace:

Do you all think mustard is a good color to add to my wardrobe, or is there another option you all like better?
