5 Days, 5 Outfits

So last week, I traveled to Miami for some work meetings.  Unlike my last work trip, my hotel room for this trip didn't have a full length mirror, so I was forced to be creative with this series of selfies.  I'd almost lost hope on documenting this set of #ootds for you all, until I asked a colleague if I could borrow her mirror (and then I found a huge mirror in a main restroom).  If I didn't already feel like an idiot taking selfies in the privacy of my own room, I sure felt silly taking them in someone else's room and then in public.

Day "2": First Day of Meetings, 2nd Day in Miami
Blazer, Button-Down, Sandals: Thrifted, Skirt: Burlington Coat Factory

Day "3": Day Outfit
Dress: Thrifted, Blazer: H&M, Sandals: Swapped

Day "3": Night Outfit
Same credits as above, except shoes (Gabriel Brothers), jewelry and bag were
swapped out.

Day "4": More Meetings
Jacket, Button-Down: Swapped, Skirt: Thrifted, Sandals: JCPenny

Day "5": Traveling Back Home
Top, Scarf: Swapped, Pants: Thrifted, Sandals: Charlotte Russe

There is so much I could say about this trip: from packing, to traveling, to where we stayed, to all of the great things I learned, and all of the networking I did, but I won't.  It was such a great trip, and sometimes it's nice to keep all of those great memories to yourself.  If you are really curious, though, I did talk a bit about my trip on Instagram earlier this week (check it out here).

I also didn't get a chance to document my Day 1 look.  Maybe some other time.

4 Days, 5 Outfits

As I mentioned a few posts ago, I was out of town the week before last for work.  And as I've slowly learned, most of my great outfit ideas occur when I have limited resources and no one to document them.  Go figure!  Enter suitcase style!  Thankfully, my hotel room had a great full length mirror to document some of my genius outfit ideas.

In other news, I can't say that I just thought of this post out of the blue.  I love that the ladies at the Man Repeller are doing a "Closets" series, so I don't feel like such a big dodo taking selfies in my hotel room.  Well, actually, who am I kidding, I still feel like an idiot taking selfies.

Day 1: Travel and Adventure Time!
Jacket: Thrifted (Goodwill Cleveland), Button-Down, Black Skinny Jeans: Levi's,
Booties: Deena and Ozzy (c/o Gabriel Brothers), Jewelry: Assorted, Sunglasses: Rave

Day 2: Meetings and Dinner
Blazer: H&M, Pink Top: Thrifted (Goodwill Akron), White Button-Down: Hand-Me-Down,
Black Trousers: Forever21, White Sandals: Akira, Jewelry: Assorted

Day 3: Meetings at the Ballpark
Jacket, Button-Down: Thrifted (Goodwill Cleveland), Cardigan: Thrifted (Goodwill Akron),
Blue Trousers: UO Surplus, White Sandals: Akira, Jewelry: Assorted

Day 3 (Nighttime): Out on the Town! Blazer: H&M, Button-Down: Thrifted (Goodwill Cleveland),
Black Skinny Jeans: Levi's, Sandals: JCPenny, Jewelry: Assorted

Day 4: Last day of meetings at the Ballpark and Travel
Jacket: Thrifted (Goodwill Cleveland), Button-Down, Skirt: Swapped,

Booties: Deena and Ozzy (c/o Gabriel Brothers), Jewelry: Assorted

I'm mostly bummed I didn't think of this documentation style sooner (i.e. for my trip to Chicago in March, my vacation in Florida, etc), but live and learn.  There is no shortage of travel in my future.

Here's to documenting more suitcase style!

My #MCM 6 - Book Worm

Varsity Sweater: JCrew, Sweater, Boots: Macy's, Chinos: Bullhead (c/o PacSun),
Button-Down: Gap

A few weeks ago, I wanted to shoot photos after work, but guess what? It is now dark when I get out of work - stupid time change.  So Adam and I headed to the main library downtown!  We found a few aisles with no one near them and snapped a few photos (Sshh! It's the library!).  I was a bit self-conscious about how loud our new camera is, so the photos we took had to be good: quality over quantity (my favorite is the last one).

Adam had never been to the "new" downtown library, so I'm glad I got to take him.  We used to visit this library all the time before they renovated it, but it's as beautiful as ever.  If you live in or near Akron and have some time to kill, be sure to check it out.  I'm still amazed at all the different books, CDs and movies that are there (I could read all day here), not to mention helpful services for people who need them.  When you are finished at the library, be sure to check out any of the amazing restaurants downtown.

What are your secret spots in your hometown?

My #MCM 5 - Date Night

Sweater, Black Loafers: Macy's, Green Chinos: PacSun

And we're back to our regularly scheduled programming, at least until the end of the month when Thanksgiving will be taking over our lives!  One holiday at a time I guess.

We took these photos a few weeks ago before heading to Wasabi for a date night dinner.  I had never been, and Adam loves it there, so it was about time we checked it out.  I have to say, it's no Kobe (in Orlando), but it was quite delicious.  Also, the Wasabi in Montrose is gigantic!  We hardly had a to wait for a table at peak time on a Friday night.  V. Impressive, if I do say so for myself.

As you can see, Adam quite likes his black, grey and green color palette - This outfit is a more professional take on this outfit from a few weekends ago.  Either way, he sure is handsome (but of course I'm v. biased).

Happy Monday everyone!

My #MCM 3 - Business Casual

Thursday before I skipped town for St. Louis, Adam and I did some mild trespassing at Temple Israel.  This beautiful synagogue is currently for sale on Merriman Road, so if you have $1.3 million hanging around, I think it's a solid investment.

Both of us had gotten home late from work, so we decided to hit the road in search of a good photo backdrop, but more importantly, FOOD.

Button-Down, Chinos: PacSun, Boots: Calvin Klein (c/o Macy's)

Happy Monday (it's also International Coffee Day - Indulge)!

The Girl is Grey - P2

Hi-Lo Button-Down: Sparkle + Fade (C/o Gabriel Brothers), Tank Top: Hand-me-down, Shorts: Mossimo (C/o Goodwill), Sandals: Brand Unknown
(C/o Gabriel Brothers), Jewelry: Assorted

This outfit perfectly describes my current mood: Grey.  Last week was pretty lame; this week more of the same (nice rhyme, homie).  Thankfully, this outfit is pretty great; it's the little things.

I guess I wear a lot of grey (great example here).  I know I wear this top a lot.  I'd like to say it's pretty versatile, but I basically just wear it over something black:  tank top, tank dress...you get the idea.  And we all know how much I love these shorts!

Looking for some less grey days ahead.

Illusion

Button-down: Old Navy, Pants: Mossimo (c/o Target c/o Goodwill), Converse: PacSun, Jewelry: Assorted

These pants. What a find - the "new" section at the Goodwill on the day I didn't think I would buy anything (HAH!).  I meant to just drop off some stuff and take a quick look through the bags (major scores), but then I decided to look in the men's section (for Adam) and happened upon all of the new stuff.  Oops.  Anyway, I had been looking for some sweet "work" shorts (found those) and pants for work (these!).  So I guess the trip was a success.  I've already worn these pants a few times, mostly with different button downs, but am thinking (since they are a bit baggy) they could work well with a crop top and blazer for a night out - heels or Converse would work - now to work on that 6-pack.

In other news, I read this article the other day about Blogger boyfriends and husbands and was quite disappointed that mine didn't make the list!  I know my blog doesn't have nearly the readership as these ladies' blogs, but my husband is pretty great.  So great that he even told me he liked these pants (!), even though they almost reminded him of a style of dress that he hates (the kind with the stripes on the sides that are supposed to make people look skinnier but are usually bodycon so it just ruins the effect).  These are just white on the front, black on the back - perfect.

Finally, how great is our garden looking? Adam already harvested some broccoli, and our tomato plants (not pictured) are exploding.  Just need some peppers and cauliflower to grow, and we'll be set.

Happy Summer!

Always Wear Sunglasses

Blazer: Express (c/o Gabriel Brothers), TShirt: Urban Outfitters (c/o Jenelle), Shorts: Mossimo // Target (c/o Goodwill),
Slip-Ons: Vans (c/o Urban Outfitters), Sunglasses: H&M, Jewelry: Assorted

I learned a valuable lesson the other night at dinner: Always wear sunglasses.  Ok, so maybe don't wear sunglasses while you are actually eating (that could be construed as rude, or that you are incredibly hungover), but definitely throw those babies on as you are walking out the door.  Why, you may be asking?  Because.  That's why.  J/k But seriously, as you are walking out the door, you may be caught in an awkward door-holding situation, and if you are wearing sunglasses, no one will notice you aren't looking at them, or if you are, it won't make an awkward situation even more awkward.  That and you can totally pull off the "Oh I didn't see you there!" - reaction when you run into someone you may not know what to say to.

In other news, the other lesson I learned this week (from writing this post) is that it's really easy to get cool pieces from places they don't normally come from: i.e. this blazer (I've written about it before) - I got from Gabe's.  It's amazing.  These shorts: the Goodwill - brand new from Target.  You get the idea.

And the final lesson I've learned this week: wear what you want.  I'm not sure that nice shorts and Vans slip-ons are actually work-appropriate, but when paired with a blazer (not the sequin one, a black one), I think I can get away with it (at least that's what Who What Wear tells me).

In closing, here's a hilarious photo Adam took of me as we were taking these photos for the blog ("What lapel? This Lapel?" - So editorial).

Peace.

PS Happy Belated Bastille Day!
